Seaweed wreath

Maine has an amazing seaweed community; it makes sense after all. It is plentiful and has so many uses from vitamins to dog treats, and spa treatments to tea. I became involved with the community a few years ago when I did product photos for Maine Coast Sea Vegetables. Since then I have been inspired to learn more and do more shoots involving it. I recently did a post about a Dulse, lettuce, and tomato sandwich.

Today I am so excited to unveil a project that has been a while in the making. It took me longer to organize and source this project than it took to create.

With the help of Josh Rogers of Heritage Seaweed and Tom Roth of Vitamin Sea, I was able to create this celebration of the two sea vegetables, kelp and Bladderwrack.

This was definitely not an easy feat, and there was a ton of salt on the floor afterwards, but it was certainly a fun new adventure and I'm pleased with the results.

You can see the wreath first hand in Portland for first Friday at Heritage Seaweed at 61 India Street from 5-7 and for the rest of October.

Can't get enough seaweed? Check out Seaweed Week here in Maine April 24-May 2, 2020.

Thanks! Lauren
